AMK Hot Runners Thursday Run Near Office

Four AMK Hot-Runners turned up today to run together and shared information. I was still having heel pain. Still went to meet up with the others but did not run today.

The sleeveless white T-shirt guy, HT has done a full marathon before. He is joining the OSIM triathlon this Saturday.

The red T-shirt guy, YS is really a PRO in running. He is very knowledgeble on running. He runs very well and fast. Can get a lot of good running tips from him.

The 3rd guy Zi Jing who wore the T-shirt with sleeves joined the team for the first time. Welcome and have fun !

My 2nd run with the Garmin Heart Rate Monitoring Watch

Did a second test run with the Garmin Heart Rate Monitor, Distance and Speed Watch today. Completed a 10km run in 1 hour and 3 minutes with ease on the cardio , through monitoring and kept the heart rate around 85% of max heart rate and speed between 9 to 10km/hr. Took a 39s short break to grap a drink (lap 6).

Some pain on the left heel and right knee but not too serious. Notice that at lap 2 (each lap is 1km) and early lap 3, the cadence (constant around 77 to 78 rpm) did not increase but the running speed increased. It indicated that there is a lot of push-off or wider steps instead of the pulling up of the legs using the Pose method of running. Need to continue to fine tune the running method.

The average running pace has been hovering aroud 6-minute per km. The data on the Garmin watch automatically get transferred wireless to the PC when it is within the transmission range. Great gadget to have. Really cool.....

Bought a Adidas Clima365 Running Singlet

Felt muscle pain at the back of lower legs, bottom of left heel and sides of right knee. NO knee joint pain on the knee cap area which I have been trying to avoid. I believe no injuries from yesterday's 8km test run with my new Garmin heart rate monitoring watch. Have been consciously trying to land on the "ball of the feet" i.e. midfoot area instead of the heels. It helps tremendously. Learnt this from Cecilia and HT (and his recommendation on Pose method of running).

Brought wife to do shopping yesterday. Adidas having 30% discount sales. Bought a Clima365 running singlet for S$24.90 (before discount was $35.69). The first "proper" running singlet that I have bought myself. Almost bought an Adidas running shorts too on 30% discount offer. My wife thought it is too short and too sexy. So did not buy. Have not buy a "proper" running shorts before. Most of my running shorts so far are beach shorts or casual shorts. Will continue to look out for a good one with discounted price offer.
